"U cannizzu"
with: Roberto Greco, Enzo Gioffrè
In 2006, along with two other colleagues decided to participate in the edition of Europan (international competition of European architecture theme ) of that year the theme inherent in Reggio Calabria was the design of buildings for residential and sports facilities. We decided immediately to give the operation a cut absolutely professional, respecting intransigence with both technical and administrative dictates , with the assumption , however, not to give in any way to the meanings and methods of spatial vocabulary of our own profession . In the face of an organization of space fairly simple (the buildings are placed in the battery one after the other ) was chosen to " wrap it " with an element typically signifier of this area , namely the screen shading consists of a series of reeds tied together that they form a kind of cloth that is often seen protruding daie openings in the city. Everything then appears as a translucent mass intervention that gives unity and uniqueness sought . The project was mentioned.
Urbanity continuous
This proposal stems from the desire to deal with a theme dear to the city of Messina, but always with the outstanding or fragmented interventions related to various emergencies, ie the fair. A first analysis have emerged nonsense and delusional actions produced in these decades on the historic property of halls, consider that in front of a breathtaking panorama, was placed a row of trees that completely prevents the enjoyment. The project aims to integrate this complex to the rest of the city, abattendo any barrier or fence and creating the inside of the circuits that allow you to enjoy this space fringed by the sea even when the halls are closed, with the ambition to become domino effect made the first card that will give the city its coveted waterfront.
A show......
with: Rubens Esposito
Near the former slaughterhouse in Reggio Calabria insists an ' old factory that was the old ice factory . The owner instructed us to seek solutions with respect to its demolition and reconstruction as office building and global investment seen as the absolute value and the outlook and visibility of the site. Our proposal therefore combines both of these aspects by proposing a building with a facade interactive (the idea was born from the package of interactive Kunsthaus Graz ) and a continuous and flexible spatial distribution of the two -storey office buildings. In this way, you create two sistinti spatial areas , one in direct relation with the urban as the big screens in Times Square vomits constantly advertising , signs telematic performance rather than digital , and the other Piò typically associated with buissnes that in the most iridescent possible conforms to the requirements of continuous transformations that require office space .
And if a train is not a train?
with: Rubens Esposito
The old train station of Lamezia Terme / Nicastro lies asleep and is in part related to the deposits completely abandoned. The theater association "Theatre P" conversely is looking for a new home that can allow it to further develop the themes and the research that produces many years within this industry. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the railways would enable them to reuse and redevelopment of this portion of the urban center of the city. The project as well as restoring it to integrate the old railroad depot, offers a reinterpretation of the railway carriage, place the remaining tracks and firmly attached to them becomes a succession of small spaces that convert the image train in "other."
A "skin" ecological
with: Rubens Esposito
It is not always their work fits in with their own convictions, although convinced of ecologists, we were commissioned wrap this incinerator. We tried therefore to limit the possible damage that this would surely object caused to neighboring population through the creation of facades "-absorbent breathable" formed by countless rows of flower beds protrude vertically conteneti various species with the task of absorbing as much as possible the fumes and smells of machinery and to mitigate the possible adverse effects of this ecomostro. The proposal, given the cost was not even considered.
Transparent mass
If we increase the threads of a modular three-dimensional structure of the appropriate size, we get a grid that will have the same shape as the source module and that will saturate the entirety of the space occupied. We could consider a uniform mass within which to "float" a series of pure volumes. These are the origins of the considerations behind this project, the cancellation of the structure and consequently the ability to "float" elements within this cage necostituisce the aesthetic goal. This is a project for a Library, which combines a search-type space of a typological nature. If in fact the metal structure implies metaphysical abstraction of the "float", the big stone block container of books alludes to eternal immortality of the preservation of human thought.
The "cable"
with: Massimo Lo Curzio, Rubens Esposito, Stella Serranò
In the summer of 2008, a competition was held for the construction of an experimental center for telecommunications in Reggio Calabria, in an old factory is now in a state of neglect that the council had bought some time ago. Fascinating ruins lifeless guardians of an ancient memory of bustling activity. Imagine then a large animal, a huge snake, wrapping the old buildings that transmits new life, connecting them to one another, it expands and narrows to load new functions. And 'the metaphor of the cable, the common thread that governs the "writing" of our creative intentions.
The machine connections
An idea born at the side of a thesis in 1999, and who was investigating the possible aspects of a capsule containing all the then existing means of knowledge. books, internet, interactive connections total. All within this structure "conformal" that fits perfectly to the human body it could follow the movements, hooked to a track that the cantilever suspended on a cliff overlooking the sea. Then open the screens in front of you and look at the metaphor of the infinite
The tents of the Maghreb
with: Giuliano Spinelli
We had to imagine an architecture on the coast of Tunisia, in particular, there was speculative commissioned an intervention which brings together an integrating Resort, a 'Hotel, a prestigious residential complex and the related services. The Tunisian landscape, especially that of the coast is flat and crowded buildings featured mediocre, the intervention must necessarily be detached from the urban context and seek its independence "aesthetics" and space. The typological and cultural reference that we immediately felt it was relevant to nomadic architecture, especially the tent, which over time has acquired its wealth in warm regions of space and undeniable symbolic significance. So while under a large "tent" are placed, Resort, Hotel and services (clubs, gyms, sports center), on the west side of the complex are combined villas of various cuts and sizes.
